The little island church-in-the woods has grown considerably and is ready for a new skin, i.e. siding.
Here the siding is being painted by an automatic roller painting machine. It saves many man hours and, hopefully, a little on the cost, too.
Now that the beams and roof decking is in, one can catch a glimpse of the architectual vision for the church. This is facing north, which is the traditional seating orientation looking toward the altar.
If one reverses direction and face toward the south, this is the view toward the old narthex, which could be transformed into a small chapel/meditation area. The interlocking beams and graceful arches add to the aesthetic dimension of the church.
The siding and the roof is on. The trim is painted. Now interior finish work will begin in earnest.
The siding was painted in a "driftwood" color to reflect our natural marine environment. The painters tell us that it will darken a little with age. The reddish trim duplicates the color of the madrona tree that is prominent in our island (and church) landscape.
