The Renovated Church is (almost) Complete! Let the Celebration Begin !
The Right Rev. Greg Rickels, Bishop of Episcopal Diocese of Olympia, arrived to lead the St. David's community and San Juan Island friends in the dedication of the newly renovated church building. Here Rev. Nancy instructed the Bishop on liturgical matters. Was there a role reversal here?
Visiting clergy from various persuasions arrived to help St. Davids celebrate their achievement. A Unitarian and a Lutheran pastor met in amiable silence. Weapons were checked at the door.
Animated youthful acolytes readied themselves for the solemn ceremony. Anticipation of great drama to come was in the air.
Lay Episcopal Ministers Richard and Darlene were quizzical about the weight and size of the Bishop's ceremonial staff. Given its hefty weight and size, they were not sure if the Bishop used it to hook or hit the straying sheep of his flock. They agreed it would certainly intimidate would be predators.
A smiling teen is prepared to spread incense far, wide, and abundantly during the service. If only we could spread her wonderful smile to the rest of the congregation...
