Godly Play is a Montessori-based program for elementary-age children. Classes are normally held during the morning service during the school year (September through mid June) in the Godly Playroom in Gryphon Hall.
Godly Play is based upon the recognition that children have an innate sense of the presence of God. All they lack is the appropriate language to help them identify and express it so it can be explored and strengthened. Godly Play teaches children the art of using Christian language—parable, sacred story, silence and liturgical action—helping them become more fully aware of the mystery of God’s presence in their lives.
Classes are always taught by two adults, a storyteller and a doorkeeper. All teachers are trained in the Safeguarding God’s Children program and have had background checks done to ensure their integrity for working with children.
